ENERGY MEDICINE: Healing for the Bodymindspirit

Many cultures including the Japanese, Chinese, Indians and Egyptians embraced the belief that life energy flows through the body, deeply affecting our physical, mental/emotional and spiritual health.

This energy has been referred to as Ki in Japan, Chi in China,

Prana in India and Ka in Egypt.  In the West it has been referred to as bio-energetic, electromagnetic energy, or simply, H.E.F. - The Human Energy Field.  Spiritualists and philosophers have referred to it as the astral light, or auric-field.

Whatever the name, there is a widespread understanding that this universal energy flows through all living things, and distruptions or imbalances in its flow can correlate to physical, mental and emotional illnesses.  The healing art of Reiki addresses these imbalances to support good health and well-being.

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki

Reiki is an ancient form of healing.  It was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui of Kyoto, Japan towards the end of the 19th Centurty.

Dr. Usui had spent many years on a quest for the secret of the ancient healing knowledge he believed was practiced by ancient sages, medicine men and Christ.  After studying sanskrit scrolls with the monks, he went to a mountain top in Japan and underwent a 21 day purification, fast and meditaion at the end of which he received enlightenment and the power of healing.  He came down from the mountain and spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching what we know today as Reiki.

Dr. Usui passed his knowledge onto several others and made Mr. Chujiro Hayashi a Reiki Master with the responsibility of training all the other Reiki teachers.  He took Reiki to the USA in 1936 where he met up with one of his students, Mrs. Hawayo Takata. He made Mrs. Takata a master passing on his lineage in 1938. At this time there where only 5 living masters under her leadership, at her demise she willed the title of Master and lineage to her granddaughter Phyllis Furumota.

Reiki has gone on increasing in strength and is now being practiced worldwide.

My lineage is 10th in line from Dr. Usui, and the lineage of Mrs. Takata.

"We say, "I have done nothing today."  Really? Have you not lived?  Is this not only the most fundamental but the most illustrious of your occupations? Have you been able to think about and manage your life today?  If so, you have managed the greatest burden of all. To compose our nature is our responsibility, not to write books. To gain order and tranquility, not to win battles and provinces, is our goal. Our grand and glorious masterpiece is to live suitably."
